Bringing you own poles - A Guide

Our enclosures come with the option to bring your own poles which is a great way to save hundreds of dollars on your simulator.

What pole thickness do I need?

Our frame fittings are designed to house 25mm OD aluminum tubing. Using any other size may not fit into the fittings, so ensure this is the measurement you are looking for when purchasing.

What length do I cut them to?

You can either cut them yourself, or request the provider cuts them for you, but please make sure you follow the below cutting lengths, as it is important to understand how the poles will fit together and create the perfect size to fit your screen and canopy. We explain the reason for these lengths further down in this article

MEDIUM | 3 (w) x 2.6 (h) x 1.5 (d):

3 x 2.95m Poles (These will be the horizontal poles)
4 x 2.55m Poles (These will be your upright poles)
4 x 1.5m Poles (These are the side poles or depth poles)

LARGE | 4 (w) x 3 (h) x 1.5 (d):

For large enclosures, you may not be able to source 4m poles, so you can use our pole extenders to use two poles instead

3 x 3.95m Poles (These will be the horizontal poles)
4 x 2.95m Poles (These will be your upright poles)
4 x 1.5m Poles (These are the side poles or depth poles)

Why cut them shorter than the advertised length?

When assembling your enclosure, the poles will at some stage sit on top of each other, or push into the sides of each other. This adds 25mm to the overall size, so we must take this into account as it can throw out the size by 10cm!

For example, the bottom 1.5m poles will have the upright poles on top of them, then the top 1.5 poles sat on top of them again, adding a total of 5cm to each upright, so we must compensate for this by taking off 5cm on the uprights. This is also the case for the width, as the 1.5m poles will be pushed against the horizontal poles, again making them 5cm longer, so a 3m width poles must be 2.95cm to accommodate for this

Where do I get them from?

Your best and cheapest option is a local steel supplier. They will be able to supply and cut for a reasonable price. You can also source the poles from Bunnings. They sell a branded aluminum pole range called Metal Mate. Ensure you find the 3m lengths with 25mm OD. If you have purchased our Large enclosure, you will need to use our pole extenders if you cannot source 4m poles for the three horizontal poles

What if I can't find them?

Don't stress! If you are struggling to source your own poles, you can choose the 'Include Frame Poles' option. We will cut your poles to size and ship them full length.
