What is included in an enclosure?
Generally speaking, an enclosure will consist of a metal frame, impact screen, and a black canopy to cover the enclosure. Depending on the brand, there are differences in how they are pieced together, and the materials used. Much like leading US brands, Bayside Golf supply DIY enclosure kits, which gives you the best result in terms of screen tension, longevity and customizability.
Metal Frame
Metal must be used as it is able to withstand any stray ball impact and have enough strength to hold everything in place whilst withstanding golf shot impact. We use heavy duty steel corner fittings that hold the poles in place (We strongly advise against buying cheap corner fittings as they are prone to bending/breaking). Many people have tried to use PVC, however one hit from a golf ball will shatter the PVC frame and usually result in the enclosure collapsing. Aluminium tubing is best, as it's lightweight and strong. Bayside Golf provide full lengths poles that require no assembly unlike other brand who use click together shorter poles. This does have a downside in that our shipping costs can be quite high. We recommend using your own poles if you want to save a couple of hundred dollars on your kit!
Impact Screen
We work closely with our screen manufacturer to ensure that we are providing the best impact screens in Australia. We use ultra strong materials, and have a clever two layer design that enables better HD image quality, less bounceback, and allows for easy replacement. Because our screens attach directly to the enclosure frame, you are able to get the perfect amount of tension and flat image with no waves, whilst still minimising the bounceback (see our FAQ for the perfect impact screen setup). We can manufacture custom screen sizes with just 3 week delivery!
Our impact screens aren't available separately, however replacement screens can be purchased by all Bayside Golf Enclosure customers
Canopy
Our canopies are made from lightweight and durable nylon, meaning any stray shots will have no chance of ripping or damaging the canopy. They are attached directly to the screen using velcro flaps, enabling for foam protection pads to be installed, and creating a neat border for your screen. The flaps are sewn directly into the canopy so there is no chance of a ball escaping past the screen
2. Can I build my own DIY golf enclosure?
Yes you absolutely can, however there are small pieces that result in a bad end product if you build yourself, especially in Australia where there are a lack of options when buying the correct components. You will mostly struggle with the canopy, and corner fittings which are a crucial part of an enclosure.
The other reason not to build your own is that you will most likely spend the same amount (usually more) than buying an enclosure package or kit. A lot of the time, people buy the wrong materials and have to re-assess, and buy something else which usually ends up being costly, and time consuming
3. What sizes are available?
The size of an enclosure can obviously vary, but in general, most people have similar size ceiling heights, so we offer sizes based on that. In terms of width, we recommend no less than 3m. For depth, we have a 1.4m standard size across all of our enclosures.
Common Sizes:
3m (W) x 2.6m (H) x 1.5m (D)
4m (W) x 3m (H) x 1.5m (D)
Custom sizes:
Please Contact us for custom sizes. We can manufacture any size required!
4. How much does an enclosure cost?
Our enclosures start at $2,250, up to $3,250. This depends on the size and whether you supply your own frame poles or include them with your package.
